Burnout Support

When you’re running on empty — and pushing through isn’t working anymore.

You may have been carrying too much for too long. You might still be getting through the day and wondering why everything takes so much out of you — or you may have reached the point where even ordinary things feel difficult.

Burnout support at Kyanite isn't about getting you “back to normal” as quickly as possible.

We start with where you are now, reduce what is adding to the pressure, and work with the capacity you actually have — not the capacity you think you should have.

Rest. Recover. Rebuild.

You might recognise some of this

You're tired in a way that rest doesn't seem to fix.

You may be sleeping or taking time off and still feel as though your energy never properly comes back.

Things that used to feel manageable now take far more effort.

Small tasks, decisions, messages or ordinary demands can feel disproportionately difficult.

You're still functioning — but there's very little left over.

Work or responsibilities may still be getting done, but almost everything else is being squeezed out.

You've lost some of your connection with yourself.

Things you used to enjoy may feel flat, distant or like another thing you should be doing.

You're more easily overwhelmed.

Another request, change of plan or unexpected problem can feel like one thing too many.

You know something has to change — but you don't have the energy to work out what.

Burnout doesn't always look like stopping.

Some people reach a point where they simply cannot keep going.

Others keep functioning for a surprisingly long time.

They go to work. Answer the emails. Look after other people. Meet the deadline. Keep the business moving. Do what needs to be done.

But increasingly, all of their capacity is being used just to keep functioning.

That can make burnout difficult to recognise — especially when life still looks reasonably normal from the outside.

Kyanite doesn't start by asking how much you're still managing to do. We look at what it is costing you to keep doing it.

When demand keeps outrunning capacity

Burnout isn't usually a sign that you've failed, or that you need fixing. More often, it's a sign that something has become unsustainable.

For a long time, the demands on you — work, responsibilities, other people's needs, your own expectations — may have been met by borrowing from your energy, your recovery and the parts of life that used to give something back. Eventually there is less and less left to borrow.

That's why the starting point isn't more discipline, better habits or stronger motivation. Those things may matter later. First, we look at capacity versus demand — what is being asked of you, and what you actually have available right now.

You don't have to solve the whole thing at once.

SHIFT™ — practical burnout support by Kyanite

SHIFT™ is Kyanite's practical burnout-support methodology. It represents a shift from sustained overload towards greater stability, workable capacity and more sustainable ways of living and working.

It's designed for the point where the way you have been functioning is no longer sustainable — even if, from the outside, you still appear to be coping.

It isn't about becoming more productive so you can keep coping with a life that is running you into the ground. It gives us a structured way to understand what is draining your capacity, what has changed, what needs to reduce, what needs to stabilise and what can realistically be rebuilt.

Depending on where you are, SHIFT™ can help you:

In burnout work, the early focus often sits around Stability, Clarity and Capacity, with Organisation, Momentum and Accountability becoming useful as things begin to settle. But there is no fixed sequence — SHIFT™ gives the work structure without assuming everybody needs the same route.

How SHIFT™ works

SHIFT™ follows a clear route — but not a fixed programme. You can start at whichever point is most useful, and come back to earlier steps when life changes.

Stabilise

What needs to stop getting worse first? We reduce immediate pressure before adding anything new.

Map

What is actually consuming your capacity — at work, at home and in the expectations you carry?

Understand what's driving it

What is making this unsustainable — workload, role, lack of control or support, constant change, or recovery that keeps getting interrupted?

Reduce and restore

What can stop, reduce, move, wait or gain support — and what kind of recovery genuinely gives something back?

Rebuild

Add things back gradually, around the capacity you actually have — without recreating the conditions that exhausted you.

Protect

Notice the early signs, agree what helps, and know what you'll do if pressure starts building again.

Practical tools we might use

  • Capacity vs Demand map — seeing what is being asked of you alongside what you actually have available.
  • Stop / Reduce / Support / Sustain — turning an overwhelming list into four clear decisions.
  • End-of-day switch-off routine — a simple way to close the day and stop work following you into your evening.
  • Sustainable week — designing one realistic week around your capacity, then testing and adjusting it.

We use one tool at a time, never a pile of homework. The aim isn't to make you more productive — it's to make things sustainable again.

SHIFT™ is a coaching and practical support approach. It isn't medical treatment, it doesn't promise a cure or recovery within a set time, and it doesn't replace appropriate medical or psychological care.

What we might actually work on

Reduce the immediate pressure

Before adding plans, habits or goals, we look at what can be slowed down, simplified, postponed or supported.

Understand what has been taking so much out of you

Not to dissect everything endlessly, but to notice the pressures, patterns, expectations or circumstances that have been consuming your capacity.

Protect the energy you have

Look at where your time, attention and energy are going and where boundaries, changes or different expectations may be needed.

Make room for recovery

Rest isn't another task to perform correctly. We look at what genuinely gives something back and how to create more room for it without piling guilt on top.

Rebuild around real life

As capacity begins to return, routines, responsibilities and ways of working can be rebuilt gradually — around what is sustainable rather than immediately returning to the conditions that exhausted you.

Notice the signs earlier

Understand what tells you pressure is building again, so adjustments can happen before everything reaches breaking point.

The aim isn't to get you functioning at full speed again. It's to help you find a way of living and working that doesn't require you to run at your limit.

Recovery isn't a straight line

Some days may feel noticeably better. Others may not.

Having more energy one week doesn't mean you should immediately fill the space again, and having a difficult week doesn't mean you're back at the beginning.

We adjust the support to where you actually are — rather than measuring you against where you think you should be by now.

We use what you need.

Burnout can affect several things at once.

You may need Stability first — reducing pressure and creating enough steadiness to work from.

Clarity can help make sense of what has happened and what needs to change.

Capacity can help you see what is consuming your time, energy and headspace and where something needs to give.

Later, Organisation, Momentum or Accountability may become useful as you begin rebuilding ways of living and working that are easier to sustain.

There is no fixed order. We use whichever facets are useful at the point you're at.

Stability Clarity Organisation Momentum Accountability Capacity

A supportive space, with clear boundaries

Burnout is usually linked to work. If the pressure comes mainly from caring, family or life more broadly, the same approach still helps — we just won't put a label on it that doesn't fit.

Kyanite can support you to slow things down, understand what is happening, make practical changes and rebuild in a more sustainable way.

It is not medical treatment, therapy or crisis support. If something you're experiencing needs medical or other specialist support, I'll be open about that rather than trying to make coaching do a job it shouldn't.

If work is a big part of what's happening

You don't have to wait until you can't keep going.

You don't need to arrive with a recovery plan or know exactly what needs to change.

We can start by looking at what is taking the most out of you, what needs attention now, and what could make things a little more manageable.
