ADHD Support

When knowing what to do still doesn’t make it easy to do.

You may know exactly what needs doing and still struggle to start it. You might lose track of time, have too many things competing for your attention, build systems that work for a week and then disappear, or find that ordinary tasks take far more effort than other people seem to realise.

ADHD support at Kyanite is practical. We look at where things are getting stuck, what is making them harder than they need to be, and what might work better for you.

You don’t need a formal ADHD diagnosis to ask for support.

Focus. Function. Forward.

You might recognise some of this

You know what you need to do — but starting is another matter.

The task may not even be particularly difficult. Somehow getting from “I need to do this” to actually beginning it can be the hardest part.

Everything feels equally important.

There may be lots happening at once, and working out what deserves your attention first becomes a task in itself.

Time doesn’t always behave the way you expect it to.

Things take longer than you thought, transitions disappear, a few minutes become an hour, or a deadline suddenly feels much closer than it did yesterday.

You’re trying to hold too much in your head.

Tasks, ideas, appointments, things to remember and things you absolutely mustn’t forget can create a constant background load.

Your day gets hijacked.

A message, request, interruption or new idea can pull you away from what you intended to do — and getting back into it isn’t always straightforward.

You’ve tried systems before.

Planners. Apps. Lists. Routines. Colour coding. A fresh notebook.

Some may have helped for a while. Others may simply have become another thing to maintain.

Things often become easier when somebody else is there.

You may find it much easier to begin, focus or keep going when another person is quietly working alongside you or checking in.

ADHD support starts with the barrier, not the blame.

If something repeatedly isn’t happening, simply being told to “try harder”, “be more disciplined” or “just get it done” usually doesn’t tell us anything useful.

Instead, we look at where the friction actually is.

Once we understand what is making something difficult, we can change the conditions around it rather than treating the difficulty itself as a personal failing.

What we might actually work on

Make the start easier

Break something down until there is a first action you can actually see and begin — rather than carrying the whole task in your head at once.

Get things out of your working memory

Create a small, trusted way of capturing tasks, commitments and information so your brain doesn’t have to keep saying don’t forget, don’t forget, don’t forget all day.

Make time more visible

Use realistic time anchors, transitions, reminders and what you learn from how long things actually take — rather than depending entirely on instinctive estimates.

Reduce the friction around focus

Look at notifications, visual clutter, interruptions, working environment or unnecessary steps and change what can be changed.

Decide what gets your attention

When everything feels urgent, build a clearer way of deciding what matters now, what can wait and what deliberately isn’t being done today.

Create a way back from reactive mode

Build enough structure around the day that every incoming message, request or idea doesn’t automatically become the new priority.

Use external support where it helps

That might include regular check-ins, accountability or sometimes simply having another person present while you start or work through something.

The aim isn’t to make you better at forcing yourself through systems that don’t work for you. It’s to find practical ways of working that require less fighting with yourself.

SWITCH™ — practical ADHD support by Kyanite

SWITCH™ is the practical methodology used within Kyanite ADHD support.

It gives us a structured way to look at what is getting in the way, choose something useful to try, see what actually helps and build from there.

Depending on what you need, that might draw on tools for getting started, breaking tasks down, making time more visible, reducing distraction, managing competing priorities, externalising memory or creating the right kind of accountability.

SWITCH™ gives the work structure without assuming everybody needs the same solution.

ADHD rarely affects just one part of life.

ADHD Support is the doorway. The facets help us decide what kind of support would actually be useful.

ADHD at work

ADHD-related difficulties can become particularly visible at work — for example when priorities are unclear, interruptions are constant, meetings consume the day, instructions are difficult to keep track of or the working environment makes concentration harder.

Kyanite can help you identify the practical barrier, think through what could help and prepare for a clearer conversation about workplace adjustments.

The focus is on helping you describe what makes the work difficult and what might make it more workable — not telling you what you are legally entitled to or speaking for your employer.

You don’t need a diagnosis to start with what is difficult.

You may already have an ADHD diagnosis.

You may be waiting for an assessment.

You may recognise ADHD traits in yourself without knowing whether ADHD explains them.

Or you may simply be struggling with things such as starting, organising, prioritising, remembering or following through.

We can work with the practical difficulty in front of you without Kyanite trying to diagnose why it is there.

Kyanite ADHD support is coaching and practical support. It does not diagnose ADHD, carry out clinical ADHD assessments, prescribe or advise on medication, or replace appropriate medical or psychological care.

You don’t need another system to fail at.

You don’t need to turn up organised, know exactly what you need or arrive with a perfectly defined goal. Start with the thing that keeps getting stuck. We’ll look at what is making it difficult and find a practical way forward from there.
